4 Must Reads for the Summer
"One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by." - Jeanette Walls
It's summertime! Who doesn't love warm weather, vacations, and of course more time to read?! We don't know how it is for you, but we find that we both get a ton more reading done in the summertime over any other time of year! Between lazy weekends reading out on our decks, camping trips where you can read by a fire while making s'mores, and, of course, a vacation to the beach where you can read while listening to the ocean waves and sun bathe, we get all kinds of reading done!

Do you have travel plans for the summer where you need a good book to get you through a plane or car ride? Do you have summers off where you can enjoy relaxing outside in the warm weather reading a book? Well, we have you covered! Here are a couple suggestions for some summer reads that we plan on reading! Will you add any to your TBR list?!

Alone Together by Lindsey Jesionowski

Alone Together by Lindsey Jesionowski is a contemporary romance that was just released in April of this year! I stumbled upon this author thanks to Instagram when she began following our account. This is the first publication from this author and it sounds so cute that I have to add it to my summer reads!!
A short summary for you in hopes that it sounds right up your alley for a fun, easy romance read for the summer! Max and Hannah are neighbors, and the story begins with them each making a promise to themselves - Hannah is swearing off men for a while, and Max is going to ask a woman on a date for the first time in 10 years. Circumstances happen and Max and Hannah now need to quarantine together - Hannah thinks it will be fun to befriend the sexy neighbor - it's not like he can cause her heartbreak that way, plus she's bored and lonely. What harm can come from it?! And he is too cute. As she spends time with Max, she learns he is sweet and caring and she just might be feeling something for him. Will she give in and take a chance with her heart, or will she continue hurting when she doesn't take a chance?
Something Wilder by Christina Lauren

Something Wilder by Christina Lauren is another contemporary romance that I have on my TBR! It is about Lily Wilder - whose father was a notorious treasure hunter in her childhood and was not just absent. Now, Lily uses her father's maps and information to guide tourists on fake treasure hunts. It pays her bills but doesn't leave much leftover in the bank to buy her dream. She's even less thrilled when the man she once loved turns into one of her tourists. Too bad for Leo that while he may be ready to reconnect, Lily wants no parts of it. The trip takes a turn for the worst, hilariously so, and the group begins to wonder if there really is a hidden treasure. You'll have to read Something Wilder to find out if Leo gets the treasure, the girl, or both.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I've heard so much about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - both from people who read the blog (thank you!) and others outside of the blog. Not to mention, this book has been all over my TikTok #FYP and #Bookstagram! I picked this up when I was at the bargain bookstore in Ohio and just haven't had a chance to read it. So I'm adding it to my summer TBR to hopefully mark it off once and for all! Now, let's take a quick look at the summary to see if you'll be adding this to your list as well!
Evelyn Hugo is a Hollywood movie icon that has somehow kept the truth about her scandalous life all to herself. She's finally ready to tell all though and chooses an unknown reporter, Monique Grant, for the honor. Monique starts to feel a true bond forming with the icon as she listens to her stories about her life. As Evelyn nears the end of her story, Monique learns that their lives are connected, but how?
Wildflower by Drew Barrymore

I've always liked Drew Barrymore, but I've been seeing her on my TikTok #FYP (are we seeing a theme here?) and I love her authenticity, both when it comes to her own life and also when interviewing others for her show. She just seems so real and it just makes me want to know more about her. So, when I saw this book on the bargain bookstore shelf, I knew I had to grab it.
Wildflower is Drew's telling of her life, from her early years as a young actress to love and loss as an adult. She details many of the adventures and lessons throughout her life that have led her to where she is today - happy, healthy, and successful.
Have you read any of these books? If not, we hope that we might have talked you into adding one or all to your TBR list for the summer!
